Bridging the relationship between the natural world, mother earth, and the human spirit, this series looks at the gestural elements that repeatedly occur in our natural environment. As the forms sweep across the picture plane they act like a brushstroke referencing the traditional Japanese black ink painting of Sumi-e. With their simple, elegant and serene quality, I hope to communicate the essence of my subject.

The images are digitally printed on a Japanese Washi paper allowing the organic fibers to show through. They are hung by a simple wood bracket and are free floating. 24″x36″

Sumi-e Compilations continues the contemplative quality of the single image and further looks at gesture as the compositions of various images are brought together for a new interpretation.
